The motorcycle industry and trend is heading in a good direction in India. While thrifty commuters make up most of the two-wheeler population in the country, the number of riders interested in performance machines is rising. However, if there are budget constraints or if you are new to performance bikes, KTM, Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Yamaha have just the solution. Hence, we've put together a list of performance oriented motorcycles that won't burn a hole in the pocket.

 
 

 
Yamaha FZ25: Powered by a 249cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 20.3 bhp at 8000 rpm and 20 Nm at 6000 rpm, Yamaha FZ25 promises comfort and nippy handling. The engine is paired with a five-speed transmission and get disc brakes at both ends. The FZ25 currently does not feature ABS (anti-lock braking system). Price: Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
 
 
Bajaj RS 200: One of very few full-faried motorcycle under Rs 2 lakh, Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is rather a capable sports motorcycle and also looks good too with its distinctive split headlamp. It is powered by a 199.5cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 24.5 bhp and 18.6 Nm of torque and is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. Price: Rs 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
 
 
Bajaj Dominar 400: Bajaj's flagship motorcycles, the Dominar 400 is aimed at riders interested in long-distance touring. Lighter the traditional cruisers, the Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 34.5 bhp and 35 Nm of torque and is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. Price: Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
 
 
Royal Enfield Himalayan: India's most affordable adventure touring motorcycle, the Himalayan has proven to be a revolutionary product for the company. It promises a comfortable ride and offer off-road capabilities as well. It is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 24.5 bhp and 32 Nm of torque and is paired to a five-speed manual transmission. Price: Rs 1.68 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
 
 
KTM RC 200: The only motorcycle in the list with a supersport stance, KTM RC200 comes mounted with a 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine paired with a six-speed transmission. The engine churns out 24.6 bhp and 19.2 Nm. Those not looking for a supersport can go for KTM 200 Duke, which is priced at Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The two do not feature ABS. Besides delivering on everyday usage, the RC 200 is fully capable to take on a race track as well. Price: 1.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
 
 
KTM 250 Duke: Positioned between the 200 Duke and 390 Duke in terms of price and performance, KTM 250 Duke is powered by a 248.76cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 29.6 bhp and 24 Nm of torque and is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox.
