Save the date for the first teaser of the Sanjay Dutt biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor

The first teaser of the Sanjay Dutt biopic that features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role will release on April 24, reports Filmfare. During an interview with the magazine, Ranbir revealed the date and also discussed his experience of working with Rajkumar Hirani, saying that it was an "altogether different experience" filming the project and that he observed Dutt meticulously in order to portray the senior actor on celluloid. The Dutt Biopic features an ensemble cast of Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh and Karishma Tanna.

"I am really keeping my fingers crossed for Sanjay Dutt biopic, it was an altogether different experience shooting for the film. I can't imagine and believe how much can a man go through hell in one life. He has paid for his deeds, made mistakes and got everything in this life. While filming there were times when I would observe him a lot, talk and walk like him but then I started to distance myself from him. After the image and look of Sanjay Dutt was released it was appreciated, but the role that I am portraying is not an act. I hope everyone likes it," Ranbir told Filmfare.

Two months ago, several sections of the press reported that the trailer of the film will be released on May 8 as Sanjay Dutt's debut film Rocky hit screens on the same date in 1981. Rocky is associated with Sanjay Dutt on several emotional grounds since his father, actor Sunil Dutt directed him in the film and days before its release, his mother, veteran actress Nargis died of cancer. These were the reasons cited by sources for releasing the trailer of the Dutt biopic on May 8.

“Sanjay started his career with Rocky, which released on May 8, 1981. Naturally, the date is very important and memorable for him,” DNA quoted a source as saying in February.

The Dutt biopic features Sanjay Dutt's life extensively so much so that before making the film, Hirani spent hours and hours watching over 300 hours of footage. Filming concluded a couple of months ago.
