Watch: Elon Musk reveals his conveyor belt tunnel for commuters is almost ready
Up next: free demonstration rides for the public to load their vehicles (or themselves) on a sled and whiz along.
Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has revealed that the first Boring Company tunnel is very close to completion. His ambitious project is set to link different parts of Los Angeles by transporting cars and other vehicles from one end of the city to another in pods or sleds on conveyor belts running through these underground tunnels.
A test site in West Los Angeles is almost ready and Musk has said usage is now only months away. In a post on Instagram, he offered a look at the tunnel, adding: “First Boring Company tunnel under LA almost done! Pending final regulatory approvals, we will be offering free rides to the public in a few months...The system will always give priority to pods for pedestrians & cyclists for less than the cost of a bus ticket.”
