India's Safest Metro Cities: Kolkata Tops The List

A city that earned the nickname 'City of Joy' for its soulful embodiment of culture, love, mystery, respect, enthusiasm and definitely some amazing sweet delicacies, Kolkata yet again ranks number one as India's safest city to live in in the year 2020. The city has been declared as a metropolitan with the lowest rate of cognizable offences as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) crime report 2020. is the safest city in India for women, as it is now referred to as is a city that upholds a perfect juxtaposition between the old world and the modern one.
Kolkata has gained the top spot in the list of the safest city in India for the year 2020 by scoring 129.5, which measures cognizable offences recorded per lakh people.
The city has been compared with eighteen other Indian metro cities with over two million population to come up with these rankings. Kolkata has maintained its top spot for three successive years.

2. Hyderabad - 233
After Kolkata, Hyderabad is the second safest metro city in India by the scoring of 233, which measures cognizable offences recorded per lakh people.
3. Mumbai - 318.6
India's financial capital Mumbai grab the third spot after Hyderabad and becomes the third safest city, among 19 Indian metro cities, according to NCRB data.
4. Bengaluru - 401.9
According to NCRB crime report 2020, Bengaluru is on the fourth spot with 401.9 scores.
5. Surat - 1300
Gujarat's Surat, safest among 19 Indian metro cities, shows NCRB data.
6. Ahmedabad - 1300.5
Gujarat's Ahmedabad third-worst in crime rate with a score of 1300.5.
7. Delhi - 1608.6
Delhi, on the other hand, is the most unsafe city for women, with the most crimes committed against them. It also had the highest number of violent crimes among the metropolitan cities.
8. Chennai - 1937.1
Chennai has a score of 1937.1, which measures cognizable offences recorded per lakh people, which brought Chennai bottom of the list.
