Wednesday, September 19, 2018 IST
As Australia hurtled towards defeat on Day 5 of the 4th Test in Nagpur in 2008, Indian fans were faced with a sudden realisation - Sourav Ganguly's international career was coming to an end.
Even as India looked to wrap up the series, the crowd got to see a great gesture from new Test skipper MS Dhoni.
Dhoni walked over to Ganguly and asked him to lead the side. Dada looked in his element as he made field changes and shuffled the bowlers around.
It was a nice way to sign off for Ganguly as India went on to win by 172 runs and clinch the series 2-0. But what stood out was the sporting gesture by Dhoni to let Ganguly go out in a blaze of glory.
The left-handed batsman led India in 49 Tests in which he won 21
