Karnataka College's 'Out Of The Box' Solution To Check Cheating - Make Students Wear Cardboard Boxes In Exam Hall
Monday, October 21, 2019 IST
A college in Karnataka has come under criticism after bizarre images of students sitting in exam halls with their heads inside cardboard boxes went viral.
According to reports, the incident took place at Bhagat Pre-University College of Haveri district in Karnataka earlier this week.
The college allegedly made the students were the cardboard boxes to stop them from cheating in the exam.
“We implemented this idea to curb malpractice and not to harass students. This is just an experiment. We discussed it with students and took their consent before implementing it,” MB Sateesh, a director of the college told
But, as expected the demeaning act of the college authorities has landed them in trouble.
The Karnataka education department has issued a notice to the institute and launched an inquiry into it.
“When I got a message on this, I immediately went to the college and ordered the management to stop the practice. I also issued a notice to the college management and am contemplating disciplinary action against them for implementing this idea,” SC Peerjade, deputy director, PU Board, said.
