Has Ranbir Kapoor

The rumour mills have been churning out story after story of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's growing closeness. That Alia had a massive crush on Ranbir before she entered showbiz is no secret, and now that they are finally working together in Brahmastra, gossip columns insist that a romance is brewing. Designer Manish Malhotra called them the "hook up of 2018" on a chat show, which only fanned the flames further.

While it is not known if they are in a relationship yet, Ranbir's mother Neetu Kapoor has given her stamp of approval to Alia, reports Deccan Chronicle. Apparently, Neetu is extremely fond of Alia and has taken a liking to her like no other female friend of Ranbir's. Earlier this month, Neetu was in Bulgaria to be a part of Alia's 25th birthday bash.

A source close to Ranbir is quoted as saying, "Ranbir would never marry a girl his mother doesn't approve of. One of the reasons his relationship with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif tanked was because Neetuji never warmed up to them. But in Alia's case there is no dearth of warmth. Neetuji seems to have taken to Alia in a big way."

Incidentally, when Alia was asked about the link-up rumours doing the rounds, she said, "Even I get really confused when I read such things, but I strongly believe that 'silence is golden'. It's not as if I'm never going to have a personal life. I will and I do have one, but I feel its called 'personal' for a reason."

Meanwhile, Ranbir and Alia have wrapped up the first schedule of Brahmastra in Bulgaria. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy, and is being made as a fantasy trilogy, the first installment of which is slated to release in 2019.
