SC stays Uttarakhand HC's order declaring Ganga, Yamuna a 'living entity'
New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Friday remained the Uttarakhand High Court's request that pronounced the Ganga and Yamuna rivers as a 'living entity', allowing them indistinguishable lawful rights as human beings.
Prior in March, the Uttarakhand HC concurred the status of "living human entities" to the two hallowed streams in India.
According to the HC's status, anybody dirtying the rivers – Ganga and Yamuna - can be punished the way a court can rebuff somebody who harms an individual.
The HC, while descending vigorously upon the Union and Uttarakhand state government for doing "nothing concrete" to clean the waterway, additionally hammered them for squandering endeavors on restoring a lost stream Saraswati however not taking endeavors on keeping up Ganga which if given proper attention will once again flow in its full glory.
