BCCI brings twist in tale, calls Zaheer Khan 'consultant', not bowling mentor

New Delhi: two or three days back, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared the appointment of Ravi Shastri as head coach, with Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid throwing in the supporting parts of bowling coach and overseas batting consultant (Test cricket).

Be that as it may, on Thursday, according to the most recent discharge issued by the Indian board, Zaheer's designation seems to have been changed to a "consultant" simply like that of Dravid.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) offers its genuine thanks to the individuals from the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) who most enthusiastically consented to attempt the procedure of choice of the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team," the BCCI discharge said.

"The three individuals from the advisory group - Mr. Sourav Ganguly, Mr. Sachin Tendulkar and Mr. VVS Laxman - have executed the allotted undertaking with add up to straightforwardness, polished methodology and sense of duty regarding Indian cricket.

"The suggestion for Mr. Ravi Shastri was made on the value of his introduction and the vision that he anticipated for taking the group to more noteworthy statures. In the wake of taking the choice on his determination, the CAC counseled him and chosen to have Batting and Bowling consultants on abroad visit-to-visit premise, according to the prerequisite of the group.

"The BCCI wishes to thank the CAC for the benevolent star bono benefit rendered to help the Board in the determination procedure of India Cricket Team's Head Coach," the discharge closed.

Prior, a media report asserted that Shastri was for sure miserable with Zaheer's appointment as bowling coach and needed his part to be decreased to that of a consultant's, which would permit the arrival of Bharat Arun as the bowling coach, yes, set up of the previous left-arm speedster.

Arun was the bowling coach of the national team in the vicinity of 2014 and 2016. It was a similar period which matched with Shastri being the Team Director.

With BCCI's most recent discharge, it appears that Shastri has persuaded the board on Zaheer's part lessening, and Arun's reentry could soon be declared.
