Lionel Messi tells Barcelona to appreciate, enjoy and celebrate La Liga success

Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona to victory on Sunday with yet another hat-trick as Ernesto Valverde’s side clinched the league title at Deportivo La Coruna.

The team have now completed a domestic double although there’s no doubt the failure in the Champions League is still casting a shadow over the team’s achievements this season.

Speaking after the match Messi mentioned the Champions League loss but also said the team’s achievements deserve celebrating, enjoying and appreciating.

“We have to appreciate it, enjoy it and celebrate it with all our fans. They deserve it,” he said.

“We‘ve been very superior to our rivals. We practically didn’t lose a game, one in the Copa and, unfortunately, in the Champions League, which was unexpected because of how it came about.

“The truth is that we deserve a lot of credit. Doing what we’ve done is very difficult. Iniesta? It’s a shame about Andres.

“Masche left, Xavi left, both of whom were symbolic for the club, and this year it’s his turn.

“It’s a shame for us too, but he deserves to bow out like this. We have regrets about the Champions League and him not leaving with a treble, but I still think he’s leaving in an impressive manner.

“He more than deserves this double for what he is and everything he’s given to the club. We wish him all the best.”

There’s no doubting it’s a huge achievement to complete the double. Let’s not forget the team still remain unbeaten and could also go through the entire season without tasting defeat.
