Asia Cup 2018: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan console Indian kid after tie

The match between India and Afghanistan ended in a tie as the Indian batsmen failed to score 253 runs in their 50 overs.

The match played between India and Afghanistan on Tuesday, which was a dead-rubber, turned out to be one of the most exciting game of the ongoing Asia Cup in UAE. The match ended up in a tie as India failed to chase down 253 in the 50 overs. While the Afghanistan cricket team and fans were overwhelmed with the outcome, Indian fans looked dejected from the turn of events.

Cricket fans all over the world admired Afghanistan’s spirited performance but a young Indian kid who was present at the stands broke into tears after the final ball of the Indian innings. Right after the match, the cameraperson took a shot of the young kid dressed in Indian jersey crying and the man with him trying to console. The moment has gone viral on internet and even Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh tweeted about it.
Tweeting a picture of the incident, Harbhajan said, “Koi na putt Rona Nahi hai final aapa jittange (Don’t be disappointed we will win the finals).” Some of the Afghanistan players, including spinner Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shahzad, stopped and clicked selfies with the young fan. The gesture shown by Afghanistan cricketers has been widely appreciated by people belonging to both the nations.
Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar also tried to cheer up the young fan as he spoke with him on the phone.
Amarpreet Singh, who responded back to Harbhajan’s tweet said, “@harbhajan_singh Paaji he is happy now and looking forward to the final on Friday… Really kind of @BhuviOfficial as well to call and console him… We will surely bounce back and it will be our “Fateh” on Friday ?????? Go Team India @BCCI.”
India, who are undefeated in the tournament, will meet the winners of the match between Bangladesh and Pakistan in the finals on Friday.
