Thisara Perera’s Blitzkrieg Knock Leaves Twitter in Shock and Awe

New Zealand saw off an absolutely breathtaking knock of 140 by Thisara Perera to wrap up the ODI series against Sri Lanka on Saturday with a 21-run victory in the second ODI at Mount Maunganui.

Sri Lanka looked down and out at 128/7 chasing 319 but Perera's maiden ODI century kept them in the game until the 47th over, when he was caught in the deep by Trent Boult off Matt Henry’s bowling.

But while Sri Lanka might have lost the game – and the series – Perera’s manic knock, consisting of 8 fours and 13 sixes, was the talk of social media.

The final ODI between the two sides takes place on Tuesday (January 8).
