U-23 bowler Shiva Singh's 360-degree turn hogs limelight

U-23 bowler Shiva Singh

Left-arm spinner Shiva Singh of Uttar Pradesh rotated 360 degrees in his run-up just before the delivery during a CK Nayudu Trophy match against Bengal in Kolkata.

Uttar Pradesh's left-arm spinner Shiva Singh is making the headlines for his 360-degree turn just prior to delivery.

From ambidextrous bowling to pausing in the middle of the bowling action, bowlers do unique things to get the better of the batsmen. Shiva's style too is one of a kind.

Shiva rotated 360 degrees in his run-up just before the delivery during a domestic game in Kalyani in Kolkata.

However, his delivery was called a dead ball by the onfield umpire.

The incident took place on the third day of a CK Nayudu Trophy match between Bengal and Uttar Pradesh in Kalyani.

Shiva has claimed that this was not the first time he had bowled in the 360-degree style but it was definitely the first time that umpire called it a dead ball.

"I use different variations in one-dayers and T20s so I thought of doing the same because the Bengal batsmen were developing a partnership. The umpires said dead ball, so I asked 'why are you calling it a dead ball?'

"I delivered this 360-degree ball against Kerala in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well, where it was fine. Batsmen always go for the reverse-sweep or the switch-hit against bowlers. But when bowlers do something like this it's deemed a dead ball," Shiva was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan was impressed while legendary India spinner Bishan Singh Bedi called Shiva "weirdo".

"Love this ... We keep saying bowlers must bring new innovation ... No Issue at all with this," Michael Vaughan tweeted.
"Weirdo...!! Have a close look..!!" Bedi tweeted.
