Watch: Brave Forest Officer Gives Water To A Thirsty Cobra Who Does Not Turn Down The Offer
The sight of a cobra can leave even the bravest of people scared out of their wits. For some, even the thought of encountering one can leave them feeling extremely fearful of the reptile.
Known for spreading its hood when threatened, the Indian cobra is one of the Big Four snakes of South Asia which are responsible for the majority of human deaths by snakebite in Asia.
However, sometimes animals can leave us absolutely surprised and this old video which has surfaced on the internet is proof of the same.
The video posted by Twitter user IAS Awanish Sharan shows a brave forest officer offering water to a cobra. The visuals were shared with the caption -- 'Old video: Forest officer offering water to a thirsty cobra. Haven't seen anything like this before.'
Supposedly, the video was originally posted by IFS Parveen Kaswan who is well-known for sharing interesting information and updates about wildlife-related topics.
The one-and-a-half-minute-long clip shows the officer squatting down in front of a cobra and offering water to the reptile. The first few seconds give us goosebumps because, after all, it is a sight never seen before. That is until the cobra starts drinking water from the bottle and you feel glad someone could help out the poor thing. The officer even gestures the snake to bend down its head in order to have proper access to the water.
It makes you wonder that snakes do understand the difference between a threat and someone who means well. With that being the case, a lot of irrational snake-related fear should cease to exist.
However, one should always be extremely careful and our actions should never come across as a threat to a snake. Also, an activity like this should only be carried out by someone who is an expert and knows what they are doing.
