Android 7.1.2 brings Google Pixel

When Google introduced fingerprint scanner-based swipe gestures in its latest flagship Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, some Nexus users asked if they would also get this feature in the future. But the search giant never gave a confirmed answer, leaving many disappointed.

Now, it looks like Nexus users will be getting the same treatment after all, as part of Android 7.1.2 Nougat update.
Android beta members using Nexus 5X smartphone are reporting that the Nougat version 7.1.2's beta builds introduces fingerprint swipe gestures.

The feature can be accessed inside the 'Moves' section under Settings. One of the toggle options in the section says 'Swipe for notifications'. Expanding the toggle shows a description that reads, 'To check your notifications, swipe down on the fingerprint sensor on the back of your phone.'

Other three toggle options shown are 'Jump to Camera,' 'Flip camera' and 'Lift to check phone'. For those unaware, 'Moves' are a few gestures Google introduced in its Pixel smartphones.

Since Google Nexus 5X is one of the first smartphones to get this new feature, we assume the Nexus 6P too will receive the same feature eventually. The search giant is still working on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat version of Nexus 6P.

A few days back, Google announced an update to its Android Nougat OS - 7.1.2. Google's VP of engineering Dave Burke announced the beta version of the OS in a post on Android Developer's blog. According to him, the consumer version of the OS will be rolled out in a 'couple of months.'
At the time of the announcement, Burke said that the OS will bring further refinements to the existing Android 7.1.1 OS version, which has already been rolled out to Nexus and Pixel devices. Android 7.1.2 will also include certain bug fixes and optimisations, along with minor "enhancements for carriers and users".
