Razer Phone announced with 8GB RAM, Snapdragon 835 SoC: Price, specs and more.

Razer, a company that makes gaming devices and accessories, on Thursday introduced its first smartphone — the Razer Phone. As expected, the smartphone focuses on gaming enthusiasts and comes with top-of-the-line specifications such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB RAM.

The Razer Phone — priced at $700 (approximately Rs 45,000) — is less expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X, costing $950 (approximately Rs 61,000) and $1,000 (approximately Rs 64,500) respectively. This, however, is the US price; there is no word on whether the smartphone will be released in India.

Razer Phone: Specifications, features

The Razer Phone looks similar to the Nextbit Robin, which was launched in India in 2016. Razer had acquired Nextbit earlier this year, revealing plans to foray into the mobile phone segment. Just like the Nextbit Robin, the Razer Phone has thicker bezels on the front and overall form factor.

The Razer Phone is 8mm thick and weighs 197 grams. The smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch LCD display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs on Android 7.1.1 out-of-the-box and assures Android Oreo updates in the future.

The Razer Phone has 64GB of built-in storage and supports expandable storage up to 2TB via a microSD card. It sports a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 13-megapixel sensor. The camera supports Phase Detection Auto Focus, and is coupled with a dual LED flash. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, and Near Field Connectivity (NFC). The smartphone, which skips the 3.5mm audio jack, is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge support.

Other important features of the smartphone include a 120 Hz UltraMotion screen (for faster display refresh), Dolby ATMOS and stereo front-facing cameras.
