WhatsApp launches video calling to take on Google Duo, Skype


WhatsApp will launch video calling carrier on its app, a flow so as to help the famous messaging platform compete with the likes of Skype, Apple’s FaceTime and the lately released Google Duo.

The new characteristic may be rolled out to WhatsApp’s over one thousand million users over the next few days.

“This has been in the works for a while and we are happy that we are launching the provider from India, which has our biggest user base. Like voice calls, video calls are also going to be dynamic i.e. relying on the pleasant of a network, the video will adjust accordingly,” WhatsApp Head of enterprise Neeraj Arora stated.

He introduced that like text and voice calling functions, video calls may also be encrypted end-to-end to make sure safety and privateness of its users.
“With the brand new update, customers absolutely can pick among a voice or a video name and cross in advance with the call,” he stated.

Arora did not give any estimates approximately the quantity of video calls WhatsApp expects to facilitate within the coming days.
In June, WhatsApp had announced that its platform saw over 100 million voice calls are made each day.

“In keeping with the consumer base, India is one of the maximum active voice calling countries for us,” he delivered.


FB-owned WhatsApp has almost grown to be the default messaging software for humans in international locations like India and Brazil.
