'Trump aide spoke with Russian envoy in December'
Washington: Michael Flynn, US President-elect Donald Trump`s pick for national security counsel, accepted a telephone call a month ago from Russia`s ambassador to the US, Trump`s representative said on Friday.
The call amongst Flynn and Sergey Kislyak on December 28 "based on the coordinations of setting up a call with the President of Russia and the President-elect after he was confirmed and they traded strategically data on the most proficient method to start and timetable that call," Xinhua cited Sean Spicer as saying.
The representative likewise said Flynn and Kislyak traded welcome amid the Christmas occasions preceding the call.
The contacts between the Russian agent and Trump`s beat assistant came around the time US President Barack Obama declared on December 29 intense approvals against Russian elements and people over asserted hacking amid the 2016 US presidential decision.
Russian President Vladimir Putin chose not to counter against the assents - a move that Trump applauded as "exceptionally keen."
Trump, who has called for enhancing US-Russia relations, on Wednesday yielded surprisingly that Russia was behind cyberattacks amid the presidential race.
