Russian military says its air strike may have killed IS pioneer Baghdadi in Raqqa: Reports
Russia's defence ministry said on Friday it was checking data that a Russian air strike close to the Syrian city of Raqqa may have killed Islamic State pioneer Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in late May, Russian news organizations announced.
The air strike, directed a meeting of IS pioneers and was completed on May 28, the organizations refered to the ministry as saying.
"As per the data which is currently being checked by means of different channels, Islamic State pioneer Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was dispensed with by the air strike, was additionally present at the meeting," RIA news organization cited the ministry as saying.
