Mahindra XUV300 is only days away from its launch and will hit the market on 14 February 2019. The new model will become a direct rival to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, and Tata Nexon. It will be available with turbocharged petrol and diesel engines that will make it the most torquiest offering in the segment.
Plus, its X100 platform, which comes from the Ssangyong Tivoli, will help it take the fight straight to the Hyundai Creta as well. The Ssangyong Tivoli is a globally well-received small SUV that measures 4,195 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. The Mahindra XUV300, in comparison, measures only 3,995 mm.
However, it has the same wheelbase, which means the legroom for the passengers remains the same. Also, with a width of 1,821 mm, the XUV is even wider than the Tivoli, which measures 1,798 mm in width. This attribute will help it take on the Hyundai Creta.
To put things in the perspective, the Hyundai Creta measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, and 1,665 in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,590 mm and a boot space of 400 litres. This makes it quite clear that the Creta is longer than the XUV300, but the interesting bit here is that it has a slightly shorter wheelbase than the Mahindra XUV300.

Also, with an overall width of 1,780 mm, it isn’t anywhere as wide as the baby-XUV, which is about to become the widest SUV in the category. Hence, it gets quite clear that the Mahindra XUV300 will offer even better passenger space than the Hyundai Creta. The only area where it will lag is the boot space.
Compared to the 400 litres boot that the Creta offers, the XUV300 offers only 265 litres. This is a result of the company’s move to shorten the overall length of the model. However, the sub-4-metre length should help the SUV with lower taxation, thereby enabling the company to price the new model aggressively.
The Mahindra XUV300 will be sold with powerful 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The former will output a maximum power of 110 bhp and a peak torque of 200 Nm, while the latter will produce 115 bhp and 350 Nm. For now, both the motors will be available only with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Vitara Brezza Specs Comparison
In comparison, the Hyundai Creta is available with three engine options – 1.4-litre diesel, 1.6-litre diesel, and 1.6-litre petrol. All the motors come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The 1.6-litre options even get a 6-speed automatic option. The smaller diesel engine produces 90 bhp and 220 Nm.
The 1.6-litre diesel engine outputs 126 bhp and 260 Nm, while the 1.6-litre petrol engine provides the user with 121 bhp and 151 Nm. The feature-packed top-end XUV300 will compete against the entry-level Creta and it has all the bells and whistles to be a success.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Creta Design
Both Creta and XUV300 look quite bold and have an aggressive stance. The new model among these two has hints of the Ssangyong Tivoli’s design, but in words of Mahindra, gets several ‘Cheetah-inspired’ styling cues. The highlight of the front-end includes a set of sleek projector headlamps with LED DRLs that extend till the fog lamp housings and gives a unique look to the front-end SUV. The company has given faux skid plates at front and rear to further impart a touch of ruggedness to the SUV.
The Creta received a facelift last year and looks bold and fresh. Its front-end gets a large hexagonal cascading-effect grille that is flanked by projector headlamps, and a muscular bumper with LED DRLs placed on the fog lamp housing. At the rear, it gets wrap-around taillights, while the side profile flaunts stylish 17-inch diamond alloy wheels.
