In yet another bone-chilling incident in the BJP-ruled Haryana, a 19-year-old CBSE topper, who was also awarded by the President of India, was gang-raped near her village in Rewari.
The girl was kidnapped by a group of men before being gang-raped on Wednesday. According to reports, she faced brutal sexual assaults by her tormentors until she became unconscious.
The victim, a second=year student, was on her way to the coaching when she was attacked a group of men, who dragged her to a nearby field and took turns in raping her. All the rapists, according the girl, are from her village.
“My daughter was rewarded by Modi ji after she topped the CBSE board exams. Modi ji says ‘beti padho, beti bacho‘, but how? I want justice for my daughter. Police have taken no action yet,” the woman’s mother was quoted by ANI.
The police first filed a Zero FIR before converting that into a regular FIR. A Zero FIR is when the police station files the complaint even though the crime has not taken place in its jurisdiction.
Station house officer (SHO), women police station, Heeramani Devi was quoted by Hindustan Times, “We received the complaint from the victim, who was taken for medical examination. After medical examination, we registered a case of gangrape against three youths and sent the zero FIR to Kanina police for further investigation.”
Haryana has a terrible record on crimes against women. In July this year, it had emerged that as many as
40 men had gang-raped a 22-year-old girl for four days in an isolated guesthouse in the state’s Panchkula district.
