Mahindra Marazzo MPV launched in India: A lot cheaper than the Toyota Innova Crysta
Mahindra has just launched the Marazzo MPV in India. Prices of the Mahindra Marazzo start from Rs. 9.99 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, making it a lot cheaper than the Toyota Innova Crysta (starts from Rs. 14.4 lakhs). At the same time, the latest Mahindra MPV is pricier than another top seller – the Maruti Ertiga – which is priced at Rs. 6.34 lakhs.
The Marazzo is available in four variant options: M2, M4, M6 and M8, priced at Rs. 9.99 lakhs, 10.95 lakhs, 12.4 lakhs and 12.9 lakhs respectively. The MPV is sold with 7 seat and 8 seat options. All variants of the Mahindra Marazzo MPV receive twin airbags, ABS+EBD, seat belt warning and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard.
The MPV is powered by a brand new 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine that’s been jointly developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong under a new engine family. The motor makes 121 Bhp-300 Nm. A 6 speed manual gearbox drives the front wheels of this body-on-ladder MPV, which has a transversely mounted engine (Transverse engine on a ladder frame front wheel drive vehicle is a world first, Mahindra says). While an all wheel drive layout will be offered for specific global markets, an automatic gearbox option is expected to be offered in India in future. This engine can be tweaked to meet Bharat Stage 6 emission norms, which will come into effect in April 2020. Also, Mahindra will introduce a petrol engine on the Marazzo in 2020.
