Ram Temple in Ayodhya: SC advises parties to sort out 'sensitive' matter outside court
The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the issue of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which has been pending for six years, should be resolved outside court.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had sought an urgent hearing of the matter in the apex court.
Responding to this, the SC asked parties concerned to sit together to arrive at a consensus.
The SC further described the Ayodhya dispute as a “sensitive and sentimental issue”, and noted that it's best that it is settled amicably.
The apex court further asked Swamy to consult the parties and apprise it of the decision on March 31.
The SC added that all parties should choose mediators to make a fresh attempt to settle the issue.
Chief Justice of India JS Khehar also offered to mediate, saying if the parties agree, he is ready for the task. He added that if required, a principal mediator can be chosen by the court for settling the issue.
