Mumbai: Soon, you will get new Rs 10 notes? Yes, you read it right. After issuing new notes of Rs 200 and Rs 2000 and a colour makeover to Rs 50 and Rs 500 notes,
the Reserve Bank of India is all set to issue the brand new Rs 10 note.
The move has been taken to curb circulation of small denomination counterfeit notes.
According to a report in the Economic Times, the RBI has already issued around 1 billion pieces of the new Rs 10 note.
Here’s all you need to know about the new note:
1. The new note will be issued under existing Mahatma Gandhi series and will be of chocolate-brown colour.
2. A picture of Konark Sun Temple will be a new addition to the note.
3. According to the report, ascending size of numerals can be seen from left to right
4. The new notes are likely to get a makeover in its numbering pattern as well
However, the existing note had a design change in 2005, which has a picture of Mahatma Gandhi on the front side while a combo picture of an elephant, a tiger, and a rhinoceros is printed on the backside.
Following the demonetization of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes November 2016, the central bank had introduced Rs 2,000 notes and new Rs 500 notes.
