Shikhar Dhawan traded from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Delhi Daredevils in exchange for three players: Report

Shikhar Dhawan has been traded to Delhi Daredevils from Sunrisers Hyderabad in exchange for three players. As per a report, he was unhappy at the Sunrisers Hyderabad's camp.

Shikhar Dhawan looks all set to play for his home team Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL). As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, Dhawan has been traded to Delhi Daredevils in exchange for three players – Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem, two of whom are all-rounders. This will be a homecoming for Shankar as he has been earlier been part of SRH. Both Abhishek and Nadeem haven't played for any other team in IPL. In fact, IPL 11 was Abhishek’s debut season.

A report in The Mumbai Mirror had earlier suggested that Dhawan was unhappy with his pay at SRH and wanted to be retained by the franchise. However, he wasn’t retained ahead of IPL 2018 auction and was bought back by the franchise for an amount of Rs 5.2 Crore by the use of Right to Match Card.

A report had also suggested Dhawan was in talks with Kings XI Punjab, where he could be seen earning double the amount which he receives now. However, he was offered a hike of Rs 1 Crore there. Delhi Daredevils management is understood to have offered him a bigger amount, which can now see him playing for his state team.

Incidentally, Dhawan will be making comeback to domestic cricket after a break of one year as he is not a part of the Test team for the tour of Australia and will be in action for Delhi in Ranji Trophy.

The left-handed batsman played for Delhi Daredevils in the inaugural season of IPL before moving to Mumbai Indians. He later played for Deccan Chargers and is currently a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dhawan has played 143 IPL games in which he has scored 4058 runs at 33.26, with a strike-rate of 123.53.
