Petya ransomware virus is back ; affects computer systems primarily in India, Ukraine, Russia, England: Swiss Agency
Zurich: Ransomware known as Petya appears to have re-emerged to affect computers crosswise over Europe, causing issues principally in Ukraine, Russia, England and India, a Swiss government information technology agency said.
"There have been signs generally that Petya is available for use once more, misusing the SMB (Server Message Block) vulnerability," the Swiss Reporting and Analysis Center for Information Assurance (MELANI) said in an email.
It said it had no data that Swiss organizations had been affected, however, said it was following the circumstance. The Petya virus was rebuked for disturbing systems in 2016.
Russia`s top oil producer Rosneft said an expansive scale cyber attack hit its servers on Tuesday, with computer systems at a few banks and the primary air terminal in neighboring Ukraine likewise disturbed.
