This Suit Will Help You Lift Weights Of Over 90 Kilos And Make You Feel Like Iron Man
Monday, December 30, 2019 IST
Iron Man is definitely regarded as one of the coolest superheroes of all time. In case you didn’t know, Iron Man could lift heavy things without any super abilities -- all thanks to the suit he wore. Yes, we all ‘Love him 3000’, but we know such suits only exist in fantasy -- no suit can give you powers like the one worn by Iron Man, or can they?
Sarcos robotics has the answer you’ve been looking for. They’ve created a massive an exoskeleton suit called Guardian XO that will give a human the ability to lift objects weighing over 90 kilos without breaking a sweat.
The suit is strapped on to human limbs that helps him walk and move around naturally while lifting stuff around. Such suits can be a boon for people whose job involves lifting heavy payloads every day, (in construction, logistics and even military) which will not only make them less tired, thus ensuring more productivity, but also prevent them from injuries and negative long-term effects on their body.
Unlike other exoskeletons, the Guardian XO is completely wireless and gives a runtime of two hours with ease on a single charge. It comes with swappable batteries to provide an uninterrupted user experience.
Sarcos CEO Ben Wolff said in a statement to Digital Trends, “Imagine a world where people can work those kinds of jobs as long as they want to; where you don’t have to retire because their bodies are injured. Or a world where people of all different shapes, sizes and age ranges can do physically demanding work. We’re levelling the playing field for a much broader swath of the potential workforce.”
Sarcos will be shipping ‘alpha units’ Guardian XO suits by early 2020 with US military being one of its first clients.
