Rose hip oil comes from the seeds of a specific variety of rose, Rosa aff. rubiginosa or Rosa moschata. The rose plant can do so much more than adorn a table. Oil from the seed pods or petals of the rose bush is extracted to make rose hip oil. It is considered a vegetable oil and is high in vitamins and fatty acids. These nutrients make rose hip oil a possible treatment for scars. A cold-press extraction method separates the oil from the hips and seeds. The delicate oil needs refrigerated or stored in a cool, dark location to prevent rancidity. For facial skin care, rose hip oil offers several benefits when applied externally due to its primary constituents: essential fatty acids, vitamin E, vitamin C and B-carotene, a form of vitamin A.

The anti-aging benefit from using rose hip oil on your face comes about due to the antioxidants and the oil’s ability to penetrate into deeper layers of skin. The vitamin C antioxidants stimulate collagen production, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It also helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The oil can penetrate due to the vitamin A, which has small enough molecules to go deeper into the skin. Vitamin A improves the skin’s moisture levels and reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

The UV rays of the sun damage skin and cause photo aging. The results on the face vary from spots to wrinkles and discoloration. The combination of properties in rose hip oil seems to combat the damage. The antioxidants, which combat free radicals that cause damage, and vitamin A, combined with the oil’s essential fatty acids, help improve skin tone, texture and pigmentation. Sun exposure plays a role in decreased collagen, which vitamin C can help counteract. The oil is deeply moisturizing and aids in removing redness and irritation. These properties also make rose hip oil a possible treatment for facial rosacea.

The essential fatty acids in rose hip seed oil can help reduce scarring and promote skin regeneration, Essential fatty acids are emollients, which improve skin flexibility and permeability. Emollients also aid in skin repair. Vitamin A may also play a part in rose hip oil’s affect on scar tissue due to its ability to improve skin texture and tone.

I have been using this Rosehip oil for quiet sometime now and honestly, I loved it to the core. As I mentioned above this oil has lot of benefits when it comes to hair and skin care. The oil is light and non-greasy in nature and hence it gets instantly absorbed into your skin. Hence, you can use it as a body lotion after  bath like I do. It just leaves skin super fresh and repairs sun damage. I use this rosehip oil as toner in my night time skin care routine too. Will update you soon on its results as a toner soon.

Natures Absolutes is born out of quest for healthy hair and skin care. They strive to make the best quality and 100% organic products.

The benefits of rosehip oil for hair and skin are really phenomenal. The best one for me is that it repairs sun damage. However, it does not work as sun protection though. So, don’t get confused.  This means you can use it to repair sun damage like tanning but it won’t prevent your skin from getting tanned.

Natures Absolute Rosehip Oil costs Rs. 799 for 30ml and is available on Natures Absolutes Page and Amazon

Rose hip oil classifies as a dry oil and absorbs quickly into the skin. You can apply the oil directly to the face using gentle, massaging motions or use it in skin care recipes. Apply the oil twice a day and allow it to absorb into the skin. Rose hip oil doesn’t protect against sun burn. While it can prevent and reduce acne scars, it shouldn’t be applied directly to active acne

Yay for me. I loved this oil. Honestly, I just can’t seem to get enough of it. I have noticed so much change in my skin texture.
